DU Recognizes Richard Grace for Service to DU Board

June 21st, 2017

Decatur Utilities recognized Richard Grace for the completion of his nine-year term of service to the DU Board.  While the term will officially end June 30, Mr. Grace, who has served as the board’s secretary in recent years, completed his duties with the conclusion of the June 21 meeting.

“Richard has served DU well,” said Neal Holland, Jr., DU board chairman. “He has brought both engineering and business expertise and a common sense approach to his role as a board member. I honor both his service to DU and our friendship.”

DU General Manager Ray Hardin echoed Mr. Holland’s remarks. “I sincerely appreciate the direction that Mr. Grace has offered our management team,” Hardin said. “DU has seen a tremendous increase in the number of capital projects undertaken over the past decade. His public works experience and business acumen have been instrumental in guiding us through this growth in our infrastructure.”

Mr. Grace serves as director of public works for Madison County.

The Decatur City Council recently appointed local businessman Tom Counts, president of 3-GIS, to a nine-year term on the DU board. 3-GIS is a provider of Geographic Information System (GIS) software for planning, designing and managing fiber networks.
