DU names 10th Avenue conference room after Lonnie Dunn
On October 3rd, DU celebrated what would have been Lonnie Dunn’s 47th birthday by dedicating the new conference room at 10th Avenue in his memory. We were honored that Shanna Dunn, Lonnie’s daughter, could be on hand to mount the plaque. Lonnie would not have liked “all the fuss” being made over him that day, but it is only fitting that the new conference room be named after him. Lonnie was a field supervisor for water and gas. He passed away last December after a long battle with cancer.
The conference room was part of the past year’s renovation effort at 10th Avenue which included new office space for foremen as well as the GWWW engineering staff and a new training room. Thanks to everyone who helped with the renovation and to Greg Gillespie for adding the beautiful backing to the conference room plaque.
Line crew gives impromptu safety talk to FirstGrace kids
DU's Garrett Hayes and Colton Stewart (top photo) took a few minutes on Tuesday, July 8th to share with some young people from the First United Methodist Church FirstGrace program about the dangers of electricity. David Garner and Derrick Moore also spent some time with the kids (bottom photo). The electric department line crew was replacing a power pole that will serve the new amphitheater in downtown Decatur. Photos by Sandra Stephenson.
