For more than 75 years, Decatur Utilities has provided reliable utility service to the greater Decatur, Alabama area. Today, DU provides electricity, natural gas, water and wastewater services to more than 30,000 customers. Our utility rates are based on the cost of the service provided. DU is dedicated to delivering quality services at some of the lowest rates in the Tennessee Valley.
Our employees are also active in volunteer service projects and love to "give back" to our community through efforts like the annual Dragon Boat Race, United Way, Breast Cancer Awareness Month and other great causes throughout the year.

DU Water Treatment Plant Meets Optimization Goals for 2015
Decatur Utilities has received official notification from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) at DU met goals set by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) for optimized drinking water treatment plant performance for turbidity in 2015. In meeting the goals, DU provided customers with protection against waterborne disease that went above and beyond regulatory requirements. Read full EPA notice here.
DU's Water Treatment Plant and Wastewater Treatment Plant were recently recognized by the Alabama Water Pollution Control Association as "Best Operated Plants" for 2016. More here.
Decatur Utilities has been made aware that a third-party environmental organization has stated that it intends to conduct water testing at various hydrant locations and/or homes located throughout the city.
Decatur Utilities customers should know this third-party testing is not
authorized, nor has it been approved by Decatur Utilities.
